HIST 4247 - A History of Jews in the Middle East

Examines the long-standing history of Middle Eastern Jewry and the experiences of Jews living in the Islamic empires of the medieval period and in the era of European imperialism. Delves into the changes that Jews and non-Jews experienced in the Middle East with the introduction of Zionism from Europe and the creation of Israel in the 20^th century and Jewish experiences in the modern Middle East both outside and inside of Israel.
