MTSE 4110 - Metal Additive Manufacturing: Processes and Materials Science Fundamentals

Additive manufacturing is the formalized term for what used to be called rapid prototyping and what is now popularly called 3D Printing. This course will emphasize the fundamentals of additive manufacturing processes focusing on metals. The broad range of additive manufacturing processes, devices, capabilities and materials that are available will be discussed in this course. The course will also cover some basics of solidification, solid-solid phase transformations, and the broad physical metallurgy associated with AM processes.

Recommended: MTSE 3000 or equivalent. May be taken concurrently.
