MTSE 3110 - Materials Aspects of Quantum Mechanics

Provides a basic understanding of the materials aspects of quantum mechanics concepts as it applies to engineering students. Quantum mechanics was once mostly of interest to physicists and chemists. Nowadays, the concepts and techniques of quantum mechanics are essential in many areas of engineering and science such as materials science, nanotechnology, electronic devices and photonics. This course provides a substantial introduction to the materials aspects of quantum mechanics and its applications. It is specifically designed to be accessible to students and technical professionals over a wide range of engineering backgrounds.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1710 and MTSE 3000 ; PHYS 1420 or PHYS 2220 .
