DTSC 5503 - Programming for Data Science

Course introduces the fundamentals of programming for data science, with a focus on Python. Core topics include data types, control structures, object-oriented programming, and data structures. Students learn a variety of data structures, from the basics, such as stacks, queues, and hash tables, to more sophisticated data structures such as balanced trees and graphs. Students also gain hands-on experience with essential Python libraries and analytics packages, such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and PyTorch to manipulate, analyze, and model data. Through programming assignments and class projects, students hone practical programming skills, algorithmic thinking, and best practices in programming for data science applications.
