The Bachelor of Science with a major in information science is a flexible program offering a wide range of minors, including technological fields, making you more marketable. Minors chosen by students in this program often become an area of specialization for graduate study.
The bachelor’s degree program requires a major in the Department of Library and Information Sciences and a minor in another field. Students must meet all general requirements for admission to undergraduate study as stated in the Admission section of this catalog. To enroll for more than 6 hours of courses in the school, students must have the following:
- at least sophomore standing
- a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5. At least junior standing is required to enroll for more than 12 hours in the school

Hours required and general university requirements
A minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced. See “University Core Curriculum ” in the Academics section of this catalog. Bachelor of Science degree requirements
See additional requirements specified for the College of Arts and Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences section of this catalog. Major requirements
Major of at least 24 hours, including 9 hours of required courses and at least 15 additional hours selected with approval of the department. Minor
Minor of at least 18 hours, including at least 6 advanced hours, in an approved field outside the department. Other requirements
A minimum grade point average of 2.5 is required on all courses counted toward the major. |
