The following requirements must be satisfied for a Bachelor of Arts with a major in French.

Hours required and general/college requirements
A minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree as specified in the “University Core Curriculum ” in the Academics section of this catalog and the College of Arts and Sciences requirements. 39 hours of French, including

French majors must take FREN 3070 as part of the 27 semester hours of advanced work, either as a prerequisite for 4000-level courses or as a corequisite with their first 4000-level course. Suggested minors for BA with a major in French
Students who wish to earn a minor are encouraged to choose a second foreign language, English, history, business, hospitality management, economics or computer science. Electives
Hours required for electives may vary based on course selection and the University Core Curriculum requirements. Electives may be required to satisfy the advanced hour requirement (42) and/or the minimum total hours required for the degree. - Students majoring in French should consider taking history and geography courses that deal specifically with their language study.
- Minimum grade of C is required for a course to count toward the major.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75 in French course work is required for graduation.
