Hours required and general/college requirements
A minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree as specified in the “University Core Curriculum ” in the Academics section of this catalog and the College of Arts and Sciences requirements. Upper-level history courses, 18 hours
18 semester hours of advanced work (3000-4000 level), with at least one class in each Group (A, B and C):
Each student will choose a focus for his or her advanced course work by taking at least four courses in one of the three groups: Group A (U.S. history), Group B (European/Western history), or Group C (non-Western history). Students must take at least one course from each of the other two groups outside of their focus. Students must finish a history course with a grade of C or better for it to count toward the history major. Group A: Advanced United States history
