Degree requirements

Hours required and general/college requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfill all degree requirements for the Bachelor’s degree as specified in the “University Core Curriculum ” and College of Arts and Sciences requirements. Major requirements
The general studies major of 36 advanced hours, comprising 12 advanced hours in each of three fields, is subject to the following limitations.
- At least one field must be chosen from among those offered in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- If more than one field is chosen from outside the College of Arts and Sciences, both may not be selected from the same school or college.
- No more than one field may be selected from a single department within the College of Arts and Sciences.
- A 2.5 grade point average is required on all courses attempted in the major.
- No more than 24 hours in one field may count toward the degree.
Electives
Hours required for electives may vary based on course selection and the University Core Curriculum requirements . Electives may be required to satisfy the advanced hour requirement (42) and/or the minimum total hours required for the degree.
