Admission requirements
- Applicants for the Grad Track option must be students in the UNT College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree.
- Students may apply for the grad track option during their junior year and must have completed at least 75 credit hours at the time of application to grad track.
- Minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA required at the time of application submission.
- The student will provide two recommendation forms from Philosophy and Religion faculty members who can evaluate the student’s ability to complete graduate level work.
- The application will be reviewed by the Philosophy and Religion curriculum committee and the undergraduate and graduate advisors.
Requirements
Students enrolled in the grad track Philosophy program must take:
- PHIL 5000 Environmental Ethics
In consultation with the departmental Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, they will choose three of the following courses (for a total of four courses):
- PHIL 5100 Topics in Ancient Philosophy
- PHIL 5200 Topics in Modern Philosophy
- PHIL 5300 Social and Political Philosophy
- PHIL 5400 Ethical Theory
- PHIL 5250 Topics in the History Philosophy
Note
Student progress will be monitored on a semester-by-semester basis by the directors of graduate and undergraduate studies. Students must meet with each of the directors and must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the graduate coursework. Students must complete the bachelor’s degree prior to being fully admitted to the MA in Philosophy. A student can take a maximum of 12 hours of graduate courses through the Grad Track Pathway.
