The following elective courses will be chosen with the consent of the major professor or graduate advisor:

• 5000- or 6000-level courses from any of EENG, MEEN, CSCE, MTSE or BIOL;

or

• HMAP 5320, HMAP 5321, HMAP 5330 and BIOS 5300 from the Department of Health Management and Policy at the UNT Health Science Center.*

* These four courses constitute a certificate in Health Services Management, offered online by the UNTHSC in Fort Worth. BIOS 5300 satisfies the mathematics requirement for the MS with a major in biomedical engineering. For non-thesis option students, obtaining a certificate in Health Services Management does not require any additional courses beyond the 33 hours. For thesis option students, obtaining a certificate in Health Services Management would require an extra course to their degree plan, thus resulting in a total of 33 credit hours.

Mathematics, 3 hours

One course from the following options, chosen with consent of major professor/graduate advisor:

• BIOS 5300 - Biostatistics (offered by UNTHSC)
• MATH 5210 - Numerical Analysis
• MATH 5810 - Probability and Statistics
• MATH 5820 - Probability and Statistics

Other requirements

• A grade point average of at least 3.0 is required to stay in the MS with a major in biomedical engineering.
• The thesis option requires independent research. Students in the thesis option are required to submit a Master’s Thesis at least 14 days in advance of the oral thesis defense date. The thesis must be approved by the major professor and the student’s advisory committee, and must conform to all requirements of the Toulouse Graduate School, as stated at graduateschool.unt.edu.
