INDS 4000 - Visual Thinking and Data Design

Introduction to the art and science of data analytics and visualization for effective communications. The process of visual thinking and design of data includes the physical, mathematical or otherwise logical representation of a system, entity, phenomenon or process. This includes data modeling, data processing, mapping data attributes to graphical attributes and strategic visual encoding based on known properties of visual perception as well as the task at hand. Students will also learn to evaluate the effectiveness of visualization designs and think critically about each design decision, such as choice of color and choice of visual encoding.

Prerequisite(s): None.
