EDLE 6000 - Introduction to Scholarly Inquiry and Practice

It is assumed that research is a scholarly, significant, and practical way to improve practice, solve problems, and stay energized as an educational leader at the local, regional, state, national, and international levelas well as investigate specific topics that are critical to the field of educational leadership and policy which, in turn, adds to the knowledge base at the state, national, and international level (PhD). Emphasizes the development of practice-based strategies and the importance and value of taking an inquiry stance on both practice (EdD and research (PhD). Students are introduced to the process of conducting a scholarly investigation and examination of a range of topics or policies through an examination and review of the literature. The demands and expectations of a doctoral program of study are linked to each student’s proposed intent in pursuing the doctoral degree.
