ENGL 2440 - Banned Books and Literary Scandals

Readings in literature that have been suppressed, censored, banned, condemned and/or engulfed in controversy. May include literary works representing a variety of cultures, historical periods and ideological viewpoints. Investigations of the social and political reasons driving opposition to particular forms of written expression, along with the ways in which scandalous, renegade or “dangerous” literary works have influenced cultural history.
